Style Icon: Charlotte Casiraghi

For Charlotte Casiraghi, daughter of Caroline, Princess of Monaco, and granddaughter of film star Grace Kelly, an impeccable sense of style is innate. Raised in France since the age of four, the young beauty has most recently been named the face of Gucci’s latest makeup collection, and one look at the new mother makes it easy to understand why. A no-nonsense approach to beauty, always-appropriate fashion choices and a classic approach to style make her the latest inspirational It-girl for women worldwide.

The 28-year-old royal has collaborated with Gucci and creative director Frida Giannini (a fellow horse enthusiast) for years, primarily through the brand’s sponsorship of Casiraghi’s showjumping and horse riding. For the famed Italian House, which has based key accessories and collections around equestrian themes and hardware, a partnership with one of the most stylish royals (who also shares a passion for horses) was a perfect fit. Gucci has worked with Casiraghi on a collection of riding clothes, supported her through various showjumping competitions, and featured her in many ready-to-wear campaigns.

“Favouring equestrian silhouettes both in and out of the showjumping ring – crisp white shirts, navy blazers and slim-fitting trousers are her most preferred pieces – Casiraghi has made a name for herself as one of the most stylish royals alongside Kate Middleton.”

Casiraghi’s love of horses began at a young age, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that she began competing seriously. Favouring equestrian silhouettes both in and out of the showjumping ring – crisp white shirts, navy blazers and slim-fitting trousers are her most preferred pieces – Casiraghi has made a name for herself as one of the most stylish royals alongside Kate Middleton.

Her style is classic Parisian: Simple, unfussy pieces that look chic no matter the country, activity or royal status, and no doubt inherited from the inimitable legacy left by her grandmother. In a recent interview with Vogue magazine, Casiraghi commented on her love for Gucci’s “low-key and classic bags”. She proclaimed her preference for unbranded, timeless styles, in particular the brand’s ‘Soho’ bag, which can be worn across the body, and makes for the perfect stable-to-dinner accessory. Ultimately, she is a girl after our own heart.
